Depression
Depression makes us feel heavy, hopeless, and vulnerable. It affects how we think, feel, and experience everyday life; and can often be difficult to explain. At The Clearing, we offer therapy for depression to help you understand what you’re going through and why, feel less alone, and ultimately find the light at the end of the tunnel.
Find the right therapist for youHow depression can manifest
Depression doesn’t look the same for everyone. It can be constant, or come in waves. Sometimes it’s obvious, and sometimes it’s harder to recognise. You might notice some of the following:
- Feeling low, flat, or emotionally numb
- Loss of interest or enjoyment in things
- Low energy or constant fatigue
- Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
- Feeling hopeless, stuck, or without direction
- Changes in sleep or appetite
- Being self-critical or feeling like a burden
- Feeling like you'd rather not be here anymore
You don’t need to relate to all of these for support to be helpful.
How therapy for depression can help
Therapy isn’t about forcing positivity or pushing you to “snap out of it”. It’s about creating a space where you can begin to understand what’s happening and why, feel supported, and gently reconnect with yourself and what it is you need.
Reduce isolation
Find a consistent, supportive space where you don’t have to carry everything on your own. Let yourself lean on us.
Make sense of how you’re feeling
Explore what is causing your low mood, including past experiences, relationship issues, or unmet needs.
Rebuild connection and direction
Work towards feeling more engaged with your life, your relationships, and your authentic self.
Depression counselling
Depression counselling supports you to explore both the immediate experience of low mood and the deeper roots that have caused it.
For some people, depression is linked to loss, long term stress, burnout, loneliness, lack of purpose or relationship difficulties. For others, it may feel less clear, but still deeply affecting.
Therapy gives you the time and space to explore what’s really going on, without any judgement or pressure, to address the roots of the issue and find positive ways forward.
